JOSH is a movement towards curing hearing impairment in children.
The founders, acclaimed ENT surgeon Dr.Jayant Gandhi and Audiologist and Speech therapist Devangi Dalal are pathfinders for the hearing impaired population.
Keeping the points mentioned above in mind, we need to devise the course of action for accomplishing the goals set. The most critical steps are enlisted below:
JOSH has also organized many functions honoring a "JOSH Star" among the hearing impaired, hence instilling in children a sense of well-being and self-reliance. These instances prompt others to beat their handicap and make their parents proud.
Lend the deaf an ear. Be a part of MISSION JOSH, and make a difference to their lives.
Their primary focus is to support and assist children from having hearing problems. Scientific studies state an eye-opening revelation that more than 95% of the disabled children have a residual hearing. Their condition can improve when high-level medical technologies and rehabilitation programs are put together to work. Children gradually start to respond well and positively to the spoken word when they are treated with the utmost care and precaution—allowing them to feel all-inclusive in society.
JOSH has been working towards this noble purpose for the last 17 years, supported by philanthropic donors, NGOs, and manufacturers of hearing aid. JOSH Foundation provided digital hearing aids to more than 1900+ underprivileged hearing impaired children while establishing 14 special schools that extend education in a digital format.
The movement primely focuses on supporting hearing impaired children. Technology, Rehabilitation program, steady support, and care are essentials for children to improve and develop a better understanding of responding to the spoken word and bringing them into the orbit of society.
The position of affairs related to the rehabilitation of the hearing impaired persons in India can be best described as “close to the mark, yet not there.” JOSH Foundation’s real JOSH of taking hearing impaired into the mainstream of society, continues to strive harder to reach out as much as possible to get closer to the desired accomplishment.
